Education is the only key to a successful future.

There is an old saying, “If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but teach that man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” This is what is the role of education in our life.

We grow up being told that education is the key to success and I am convinced that it is the only thing that will guarantee a happy and stable life. Let us just look around us. Why do our parents enroll us in school? Why does every parent work hard so that he/she can provide their child with the best quality of education? What lead the son of a poor boat owner to be the Missile Man of India. It is indeed education.

Even a vegetable vendor in the weekly bazaar is able to earn profit due to the knowledge of basic calculation and communication skills through informal education.

In the previous century, many people faced hardships in spite of having potential due to the lack of even primary education. They could live only on the basis of informal education provided by parents/elders.

Before moving ahead let us understand what do I mean by education.

Education is the process of facilitating learning or acquisition of knowledge, skills, and values.

However education is beyond earning degrees, it is more than the bookish knowledge. Education hence also means inculcating moral, ethical values, positive thinking, an attitude of helping, etc. Therefore, it is evident that no person can open the doors of opportunities without being educated.

I agree that in the past, people have achieved success without formal education. People like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Michael Dell, etc. have earned billions of wealth with very limited education. But one cannot deny that this was also possible through a team of highly educated professionals.

To conclude I would say that Education is a must in one’s life and it is the foundation over which careers are built.
